Gymnastics

Hayden just ended another season of gymnastics. Hayden has been taking gymnastics since she was 3 years old and still loves to do it. When she was 3 she was taller than all the rest of the kids and so she was stronger too. She could lift and hold herself up and the other kids couldn't. She was so cute to watch. I have tried through the years to get her to try other sports like softball and soccer, but she always just wants to do gymnastics. I think she likes the variety of events.
Hayden has been taking from Air-Bound for 2 years now. It's very close to our house, so that makes it nice. This year her coach was Saje Fields. Hayden really loves her and hopes she will have her again in the fall.
Hayden's favorite events are the bars and the vault. She worked hard until she mastered her back bend.
Now she will take a break from gymnastics for the summer and start up again in the Fall. She has decided to take Hip-Hop dance again this summer. It is almost like club dancing, if that makes sense. It's fun to watch.

Memorial Weekend

Saturday we went to visit my Dad's grave in Bear River City. I had to stop off first in Brigham City to get a flower at Walmart. Walmart was completely sold out of chrysanthemums, so I had to find another flower. Its okay because my Dad was allergic to flowers anyway. I got one for my Dad's and my Grandpa's grave, which are next to each other.

After the visit to the cemetery, we met my parents and Cannon & Justine at Belmont and went golfing. It was Hayden's first time being old enough to go. She was so excited.

Hayden did a really great job, even though her clubs were too long. She was determined to get better and do it right.

She was a cute golfer and had some nice shots for her first time.

The weather was overcast and perfect.

We had a great time. After our 3 hour round of golf (it takes time with 7 people) we went to JC's Diner with my parents and had dinner.

The best part of the weekend is having a day off on Monday, Yippee!

Motivation

My goal is to stay in shape and be healthy. I do like to exercise, but having the time is another story. With working full time and having an active 9 years old and a husband in school it's hard to prioritize working out. When I get home from work there is homework, dinner, piano, laundry, gymnastics, cleaning the house, yard work etc, etc. Taking time for myself, after I have been gone all day, makes me feel guilty, but it is also a necessity. This last month I have been lacking in motivation. The weather has been warming up and exercising outside is now perfect. I like to take advantage of our Utah Springs and Falls when the weather is just right for jogging or biking.
My friend Marianne and I work together and we know how hectic our schedules can be, and she has 2 younger kids besides. We want to be healthy and lose weight, so we decide to join the 100 mile club. Our city of Providence has a club where you keep track of your mileage walked our ran and after 100 miles you bring it in for a prize. Marianne and I decided to join and the first one to 100 miles the other person has to take them to dinner. I am a little too competitive sometimes and challenges like this really get me going.
We signed up last Monday. We also have to eat well. I didn't have a pop all week and I love my Diet Mountain Dew. I have cut my sweets down, that right there, is an accomplishment for me, the sweets lover.
So far I have 19.25 miles down and 80.75 miles left to go. I have felt way more motivated and have even run on my treadmill before work. I will keep you updated on my progress. I am hoping to be finished the week of my birthday.
